Description: This workshop focuses on creating a simple stitched map of a place that holds special meaning for you —
your home or where you live. Using a combination of hand and machine stitching, along with silk organza, opaque fabrics, and a touch of paint, you’ll design a small fiber art map measuring approximately 8” x 8” to 11” x 11”.
You’ll also learn how to use online resources to find maps that can serve as your creative starting point. As the class progresses, you’ll discover numerous ways to adapt and expand upon the techniques introduced — opening the door to a series or collection of personal stitched maps.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have gained the inspiration and skills to continue exploring this expressive art form.
