The KCMQG participated in the QuiltCon Charity Quilt Challenge. Here’s what we had to adhere to for the challenge.

Color: The colors we had to stick to were described as white, light gray, chartreuse, burnt orange, sky blue, cerise, and deep turquoise. Not all of the colors had to be used nor did they have to be solids.

Design: The design had to be a form of Alternative Gridwork. The simplest way to explain this is that the layout of the quilt blocks shouldn’t follow the traditional layout of a quilt.

Size: Finally, the quilt had to be no smaller than 68″ x 88″ and no larger than 72″ x 92.”

The KCMQG opened this challenge up to its members allowing them to participate in whichever way they wanted. Groups could be formed or an individual could make a quilt themselves.

This must have been quite a challenge, because only one group was willing to take it on! Monica Vega, Marsha Rhoads, and Elizabeth Rogers completed this beautiful quilt and it has been sent off to be displayed at QuiltCon. Thanks, ladies!

If you’re going to QuiltCon, make sure you stop by the display of all of the charity quilts and take a look at this quilt in person!
