Hello!   Our August meeting was a full of information! Heidi Parkes visited us and discussed her background from going to a high school art teacher to a full-time artist/quilter and how she sources her inspiration from flight, books, movies, and art. Her hand quilting and yoga workshops were wonderful, it was truly a treat to have her visit us.   NEXT MEETING Thursday, September 8th at Roeland Park Community Center. The room opens at 6:30pm for socialization, and the guild meeting begins at 7pm. Rachel Hayes will be our guest speaker.

We will announce the winner of the Sewing Machine Raffle, and take some time to discuss our latest Pattern Challenge. We will also be showing our seven Pulse Quilts, and have those who contributed sign the labels. Treats are welcomed at RPCC, if you’d like to bring something to share!   Join us after the meeting for drinks and more socialization at The Bar, 6101 Johnson Drive, Mission, KS 66202

SEWING MACHINE RAFFLE Myron Schwery of Bernina/Windmill Sewing Center generously donated a Brother Sewing Machine (valued at close to $900) to our guild! His expressed purpose was for us to use it as a fundraiser to benefit the guild.   We will be conducting a raffle with the proceeds of ticket sales being used for a guild quilt show. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased here. We hope Myron will be present to draw the winning ticket at the September meeting.    The more virtual tickets you purchase, the more opportunities you have to win. You do not have to be present to win.

PULSE QUILTS We have two completed quilts and five quilts with long armers. Thank you to everyone who contributed blocks, fabric, time, and those who attended the Sew Day to make these amazing quilts.   At our September meeting we will show them, have those who contributed to sign the labels, and we will be mailing them to the Orlando guild the next day. All Pulse Quilts donated will be distributed by the Orlando MQG during Pride Week in October.

SWAPS
Completed I-70 swap projects were shown at the meeting.   Please check your email to receive your swap member’s name and social media account, so that you can thank your maker!   PATTERN CHALLENGE
