Hello KCMQG members!   Our meeting this month is just a week away!  We will be meeting next Thursday, December 10th at 7pm at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. Please note this is not the Kauffman Performing Arts Center.  The meeting is at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center which is located at 4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO 64110.   This month’s meeting will feature our holiday party, a swap-a-rama, and the 1-hour basket gift exchange if you chose to participate.  The proposed changes to the bylaws will be presented as well.

CHARITY PROJECTS
KCK Police Department Donations: This year we’ll be creating stuffed animals to donate to the KCK Police Department.  These stuffed animals we will be donating will be taken by police officers and given to children who are in scary situations.  This could be domestic violence, car accidents, or any other situation where receiving something special could help a child cope with something that could be very frightening.  Kristin Marciniak has started two pinterest boards where you can find patterns or tutorials for projects that would be appropriate for this charity program.  KCMQG Plushie Patterns (FREE) and KCMQG Plushie Patterns (Paid)

If you are working on a project and need some stuffing, contact Kristin Marciniak.  Also, please do not use buttons for eyes.  Use safety eyes, embroider them, or leave them off completely.  The collection for this project is at the December meeting.

In addition to the stuffed animals projects, the community service committee has decided to also make and donate some quilts to the KCK police department.  These will go to the victim’s advocate service, which will pair people who have been through trauma with a quilt.  Quilts should be throw-sized: big enough to wrap around yourself when you are cold/scared, but not big enough to cover a bed.  These will be going to people of all ages.  If you have a quilt all ready to go, please contact Jacquie Gering.

Community Service Sew Day
The Community Service Committee is holding a sewing day on Sunday, December 13th from 11-5 in Room 6 at the Roeland Park Community Center.  All guild members are invited to work on stuffed animals and quilts for the KCK police department, as well as drawstring bags and little pads for Africa.

OFFICER TEAM & COMMITTEE CHAIRS There will be opportunities to become a committee chair or a member of the board in 2016.  If you are interested in becoming a leader within the guild, please let us know!  Please reach out to us at the guild email account ([email protected]) for more information.

KANSAS CITY REGIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL The results of the survey were posted to the MQG Community site recently.  If you’d like to see them, visit this link.   If we participate as a guild, we need someone to represent the guild at KCRQF meetings.  If you’re interested in being this person, please send an email to the guild account ([email protected]).
