Hello again, KCMQGers! Yesterday we launched the Fractal Radiance Pattern Set and you got to see the pillow and small quilt Katie created that was the inspiration for the patterns. Today we’d like to show you the large version of Fractal Radiance that Paula made (and Denise quilted) as part of the testing process.

Here’s what Paula had to say about making the quilt:

“What a dazzling quilt with all of these beautiful Kona colors. This quilt was challenging yet so much fun to make. Large pieces, and with a little care for those bias edges it comes together smoothly and easily and the best part quickly. In a weekend or so you can have a spectacular Fractal Radiance quilt of your own!”

Paula has a wonderful eye for color and chose beautiful Robert Kaufman Kona Solids. There are 19 colors in this large pattern. Since the triangle pieces begin as rectangles, you will have a wide assortment of colors to add to your stash after cutting. And who wouldn’t love adding these brilliant colors to more projects (like the Fractal Radiance pillow)! The Konas Paula used were:

A:  Papaya #149
B:  Mulberry #80
C:  Bright Pink #1049
D:  Candi Pink #1062
E:  Hibiscus #188
F:  Hyacinth #1171
G:  Lapis  #357
H:  Crocus #142
I:  Pansy #258
J:  Honey Dew #21
K:  Caribbean #1064
L:  Bahama #1011
M: Cyan #151
N:  Lagoon #139
O:  Peacock #1282
P:  Robin Egg #1514
Q:  Kiwi #1188
R:  Sour Apple #144
S:  Spearmint #217

We love that Katie wrote directions in the pattern set for achieving a facing finish for the binding. You can see that the facing finish on both quilts allow the eye to move across the solid fabrics and beyond the edge of the quilt.

Check back tomorrow to see more quilts from our testers.
